The more I look at it, I don't think that Kimball grille is the original- but if it's a replacement I'd give someone points for using a nice piece of quartered oak. It's a lot like the woodwork in my house: a sort of compromise between Mission and simplified classical.

The phonograph pulls out of the center, the crank fits into the hole in the middle of the grille.
