Does a model b gem with a 19” panel horn use the same 2 piece crane found on the fireside and maroon gen with a 19” panel horn?

The Model B Gem has one of two sizes of holes to accommodate larger horn cranes. I don't know if the earlier B Gem with the small hole is for a single piece crane or a two piece crane. The later B Gem has a slightly larger hole to take the two piece crane that is the same for a Model D Gem or Fireside.

The early Model B Gem, used the smaller one-piece crane. That's the same as the Model A Gem. My Model B Gem is an early one with a banner decal on the front of the lid. The later Model B Gems circa 1908 or so used the larger diameter 2 piece crane, the same as the Model C. If there are any differences, let us know.

What I did...

I took the 2 piece crane on my fireside and the one piece crane on my gem model b and they interchanged. The holes were the same size. With this info I assume the correct crane foe the gem is a 2 piece?

For the early Gems, a one piece crane. For the later Model B Gems and up, a two piece crane.

If the one piece crank fits your Fireside I think there is a fair chance it's a reproduction. There have be some good looking and very functional reproductions made. Jerry B.
