Nice machine with all that ephemera. This is practically a time capsule. That's the way to find them.

Did these models have the largest horn of pre-orthophonic cabinet machines?

Ok, I got the speed control moving freely and to it set to 78rpm. And here’s how it plays using a soft tone needle. Apologies for the dim lighting.

This wont be one of those "the one that got away" stories for you after all. Congrats on a nice rare machine. Did it come with any cool records?

Well, it came with a bunch of 45s...also a lot of Christmas 78s were in there too. Would have come handy a month ago lol. Nothing too exciting. Most of the albums were empty.

I also think the reason that it’s in such good shape is that the original owner was one of those people who would yell “Now don’t you touch that now!” At anyone (especially children) who got within ten feet of it.

Neat! Congratulations, beautiful Victrola and it is neat to know the story behind it. I bought an off brand last year and the family knew all about how circumstances in which the original owner (lady) acquired it, my wife pulled out a notepad and started taking notes - that really added to it!

Did this machine have separate keys for the lid and record storage?

I just counted seven Victor uprights that I own and like them all. Nice 111 which I do not own. Nice ephemera coming with the machines makes the machine even a better buy. I always have to buy that kind of thing separately. It is rare for me to find a machine with 'stuff'. ha ha You found a nice one here. So nice to know the history of your machine and from whom it came. Congratulations. Neil
