#3 is a useful shot also because it brings out a great deal of the detail that is almost lost in #2, such as the diaphragm and needle bar. It would be wonderful if most Ebay sellers' photos were even close to this level of quality.

I agree on #2 & #3, favoring #3 as the best one of the three... good enough to give an accurate representation and proper detail. The white background is preferable, in my opinion. Indirect lighting and a tripod are the keys to good photography... also, if your camera has a countdown timer for auto shutter triggering, set it for 2-5 seconds which will avoid any camera shake caused by manual triggering.
