Re: Colonial HMV Portable Gramophone
I bought one of these last year in a comparable condition, complete with a box of records - the owner had brought them to England after a tour of Burma in WW2. At £40 I couldn't resist, particularly with the "Burmese" connection! But I wouldn't have wanted to pay any more than that. I just cleaned it up and stuck the peeling covering down, i.e. preserved it in sound unrestored condition, wearing its heavy patina with pride.

Hi ! Was there a single spring motor 94 model gramophone too? Any idea?Phono48 wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 10:07 am The 94 also had a double-spring motor, which made the machine a lot heavier than the 97. Here's mine....

Hi Steve ! Thank you for the information. Yes you are right. I own a 97 with a single spring 748B motor. I always thought of it as a smaller version of 102 but I never noticed its relationship with 94.Steve wrote: Wed Sep 11, 2024 3:49 pmYes, it's called a 97!Sherazhyder wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 8:31 amHi !
