I don't know, Grant. I'm with you this one. I've never heard a good Gem reproducer (at least not compared to a Model B (for brown wax) or a Model C (for moulded wax). In my mind, Gem Speakers belong on the shelf with Berliner sound boxes. Interesting and fun to have, but not to play.

"That reproducer is specific to the early Gems. It's designed to be similar to the Automatic. Frow says this was supplied with Gem from about 1900 to 1902"
Wow, Learned something new today. I never would have though that-that was an Edison Reproducer.. It "looks" too aftermarket of the period.. I'll have to read-up on it in Frow..
Thanks for all the posts on this one....especially to Wyatt! Using it only with Listening Tubes makes perfect sense.
