I am pretty sure that the Victor C was only offered in the front mount version. Victor always had there rear mounts centered in the case. Models with the "Remove This Plate To Attach Tapered(or Rigid) Arm" plate covered holes in the center of the case.

It does look impressive with the rear mount.

Either version is neat; I'd be tempted to go rear-mount with it because it was a period conversion.

Or front-mount because it's stock. Either way it's a nice Victor, always a winning piece for the collection. ;)

VabEpps, your points are well taken. I of course would like to find a C in pristine condition, but that's not what I have here.

This time I took a photo of the C with the Vic I hardware properly attached, not propped up with a cigar box.I used the Vic I bolt plate on the inside, two Vic I bolts to secure the bracket, etc. No new holes were drilled for this set-up; I used the pre-existing holes. I don't think the spacing of these two holes is purely coincidental since they match a Vic I bracket so well. A rear-mount horn has many advantages over a front-mount set-up. It's nice to think this conversion took place during the original period of use and not at some much later date, which is when I think the Columbia hardware was added. But who knows?
