Oh, sorry to read your thread re: possible woodworm. I once bought an HMV gramophone and was shocked to discover the damage they can do. I had to make it into a Frankenphone - once an oak floor stander now a pine table top. Great mechanics, sound box, fantastic large, very heavy cast iron internal horn etc and faultless double spring motor though - my daily player. I actually only bought it for the records it came with so hey ho. Obviously not in the same ball park as your fine machine and restoration but thought I would mention.

I don't have the woodworms. I don't have a Pooley VTLA either! It belongs to a friend who just refinished it to factory style specs. He will have to treat it somehow.

Regarding the 78 at the beginning of this thread, I forgot to mention Billy Cotton is one of my favorites, and I was introduced to him through "Smile, Darn Ya, Smile" on YouTube...Old 1930s music is a lot of fun, and if a 78 is still playable I don't toss it out. Then again, I have no more space. :D
