I thought the C-19 held as many or more DD than any of the other models of Edison Diamond Disc machines.

I believe they hold 70 DD's, as if they aren't heavy enough already. I have not picked up the C-19 yet because it was in the basement of the ladies home and I was alone. Need to bring some young muscle with me tomorrow to get it.

I think the C-19 can store up to 72 DDs because it is a full cabinet with two 36 record shelves, whereas most Edison DD machines, like the William and Mary W-19, are half-cabinets with only one record shelf. But the earlier C-250 had two record drawers, each holding up to 50 DDs, so as far as I know, the C-250, holding 100 DDs, offers the most storage in an Edison Diamond Disc machine.

Just to set the record straight, the earliest C19s were provided with the same drawers as the C250 - with storage for 50 records each.

Then the drawers were outfitted with individual dividers that accommodated 38 records in each drawer for a total of 76.

As the C19 eventually advanced to the drawers being eliminated, vertical dividers replaced them for a 2-shelf system which accommodated 36 records each, for a total of 72.

Oh right, in fact I was just over at my friend Mike Sorter's house. He has a "mint" Chippendale with those record slots in the drawers. I'm not sure if it's a 19 or a 250 now. I say "mint" in quotations because this mahogany Chippendale was given over to a cabinet restorer about 20 years ago who charged next to nothing to totally re-veneer the entire cabinet! So the door is what they call "book matched" with the grain v-eed to a point. It looks so pristine, but who ever heard of re-veneering an entire Chippendale! You couldn't do that today at a reasonable price. But I love the way the record slots look in the drawers much better than the record slats that hold ten records each.

The C250 is observed only with the 2 drawer, 5-compartment storage capable of storing 50 records each.

The C19 is observed with all three types of storage.

It should be noted that the later drawers can be substituted for the original ones in the earlier cabinet, and vice versa. Their sliders, cabinet openings, etc., were the same, until the drawers were eliminated in favor of the vertical dividers.

That was my rule as well for many years, until I needed to stack a machine on top of another one because... well you know, it had to be done.
