That is a great looking veneer, hard to believe you are throwing it out. I think it has to much contrast for my project. even before I removed the finish mine didnt have that much contrast anywhere on it. another member sent me a pic of the underside of his lid and it matched it with mine (both have original finish) and you can see mine even under the lid has low contrast. The sides and front have much more figuring than the top underside but still similar contrast.
I decided to go with the certainly wood European burl walnut show above, book-matched set. Worst case scenario if it doesn't work, I sand it off the front doors and start over. I will post pics once it is done.

I wasn't exactly throwing it out... it's earmarked for my Automatic Panatrope cabinet but I have a couple more sheets than I need. ;)

it is really nice with a great pattern. I hope it works out for your Panatrope.
