Thank you, txhog! Actually, the finish on the outside is not a high gloss. So I am going to use some "Old English Lemon Oil", on the wood, to see if that helps some, then maybe look for polish too. I was told by a coworker of mine, who works with wood, and said that, Old English polish is best for wood.

I was surprised by the inside of the machine. The felt is still good, although it has yellowed a bit, but is still intact. The nickel plating has no pits, or dents. Speed control knob works, and the crank winds nice and smooth. Also, when I let the machine wind down, after I tested it. I heard, no thumping, or whining, from the spring or motor. Which is good. The sound box is a No.2. It still has the metal tin for holding used needles, which is good. The sound quality, is much different from my VV-IV, but still sounds okay.

I am really glad I bought this machine. However, I am going to be selling my VV-IV, along with the cabinet it's sitting on, plus some records, and a pack of needles. Down at our booth. My parents, and I have a booth in Old Glory Antiques, here in Frederick, MD.

That's a lot more machine than a VV-IV, though the IV is a fun little gizmo - I keep one at my cabin. Still the X is the one I use to play all my acoustic records. Still haven't decided whether I like the Exhibition or the @ reproducer best.

Mine was getting a bit "alligatored" on the outside, so I cleaned it, brushed it with denatured alcohol to re-amalgamate the finish, then polished it with 0000 steel-wool, and it looks lime new.

A great machine - congratulations again!

Why, do you rebuild them?

You betcha. :)

I didn't know if you had replaced the gaskets and adjusted the needle bar on yours yet. It usually adds a lot to the sound quality, as the original rubber gaskets have dried out.

Actually, I have not done anything with mine, since I bought the machine. Also, I'm a little technically declined.
