This isn't the first time that someone has posted a "what is it worth?" enquiry that was not completely genuine.

As usual, however, we have people falling for it, and attempting to be helpful.

Now that I know what kind of TMF member oldtvsandtoys is, I will not be responding to any of his posts, whether they are "what is it worth?" threads or anything else for that matter.
Best regards ... AZ*

I guess you can't be too offended that he recognizes the expertise of the members of this board though. I don't hold it against him for asking for some advice even if he just wanted to get educated on what his machine might bring. If he listed it for $7500 and then found out it was worth ~$1000 would we be as upset? I can't remember what his previous posts were about, if all he does is take from the group, and never give anything, I guess ignoring him is OK...

I've had the experience of making an offer on CL (re. TLP Credenza), negotiating what I thought, and what the seller said, was a pretty fair price, trying to set up a time to pick up an item, and then having my emails ignored by the CL seller. That wasn't appreciated but there's so much interesting stuff out there that I just move on to the next possibility and forgive and forget about the one that didn't work out.

Well, I certainly DON'T regret trying to be helpful, nor do I feel stupid for being duped. Frankly, I don't expect--up front--to be lied to when I read these posts. Perhaps that's naive, but that's the way I am.

Guys, don't feel too bad.You should have read the way he treated a man that tried to offer a fair deal on a Victor 6 and record cabinet to members of this form.I bet that man will think twice about asking anyone on this form again thanks to his rude and unfounded comments towards that seller.Maybe,he should stick with old TV's and toy's!!!????.

you should probably reread, or read, the whole thread, because I think you're totally misconstruing what occurred here.

did you read the post above yours? apparently the douche who started this thread claiming to have found the craigslist listing (and soliciting value advice for a machine he was considering buying) was actually the same person who created the craigslist listing (and was just soliciting advice here on how to value a machine he already owned and was looking to sell... which he now is doing on ebay). at least, that appears to be what the uncle is saying.
Hey, brianu, this is the douche that bought the Victor P. Yes, I did buy it off craigslist and was planing to sell it on ebay all along. I made the post to find out what it's worth so I could price it right. Is that wrong? I though this would be the place to ask. Nice people and all. I guess I was very wrong. I have a Victor 2 humpback (also bought off craigslist) and a victor E that's all I want. I collect old televisions. Those collectors seem to be much nicer!!! So if that makes me a douche so be it.

It does appear that way. I just don't understand the need to be deceptive. A simple "I have this machine that I'm looking to sell, could you tell me what a fair price is so I don't get ripped of?" would have probably had resulted in an honest appraisal.
Zeppy, this is the guy that bought the Victor P. I did buy it that day on craigslist and planed on putting it on eBay that nite. As I only have two victors an E and a humpback 2 I don’t know much about these machines. So I made a post to ask. Is that wrong? Is that deceptive? I was asking what it was worth. Why do phonograph collectors think everyone is trying to pull something on them? Maybe because their trying to pull something on everyone? I collect old televisions not phonographs.

Okay. So to clarify: you posted your initial question after you had purchased the Craigslist $75 Vic. P. (The Craigslist ad you posted the jump to was actually posted by the person you bought it from. It had not yet been pulled from Craigslist.)

Then, upon finding out what it was worth, you posted it for sale on eBay. Obviously, then, you were in the process of creating the ebay ad when you came here for advice.

Sorry to have misunderstood, and my apologies for any hard feelings I may have generated by my above comments; which I've already edited out.

No, the machine was listed for sale by the original poster of this thread, who apparently was looking for some advice as to pricing for a quick turn-over.

Note that the BIN price on the eBay listing is $1,000.00.
no the machine was not bought buy the original poster I bought this machine from him. Yes I bought it to sell on ebay. How many of you bought a machine to turn it? I happen to collect old tvs. I much nicer crowd those collectors!!!!! As I didn't know what it's worth I asked. Is that wrong? No what is wrong is asking and all you phonograph collectors think I'm trying to pull something.

AZ, I did buy the victor p off of craigslist. As I collect old tvs I dont know what it was worth. Yes I was planning to sell it on ebay. I though asking the people that would know would help. But I guess the people that know don't want to help!!! Please don't respond to any of my posts.
