This is such an interesting topic. I would love to see and hear more toys like this. Anyone have any links for these cheap toy record players?

My sister had one of these, But I don't remember how the doll worked.

This isn't my listing and I have no connection with the seller whatsoever.

Even if it isn't a disc system , there was a talking doll that had used a closed loop tape recorder in her. You would turn a bow just below her chin and speak into her chest until you heard a 'beep" that would indicate you had reached the end / start of the loop. Then turn the bow the other way and the recorder would repeat whatever you spoke into it. If the bow was in the middle position, the machine would turn off.

I had a talking railroad station that used a non removable plastic record ,played back acoustically, that would make announcements like "SUCH AND SUCH A TRAIN LEAVING ON TRACK 29". Not the Chattanooga Choo Choo. HA HA HA !!! I made a funny !!

American Flyer trains in the 1950’s and 60’s that had a train station with a tiny record player in it to mimic the sounds and announcements one could expect to hear at a busy railroad station. It was a very simple/crude device.
I’m sure Lionel must have had similar items.
