As seen in the caption, this machine belonged to Alan Mueller when we shot it for a book in 1996. I bought it from Alan 3 years ago, and asked the same question of him. He said that the machine belonged to a local collector of music boxes, who sold it to Alan in the early 1970s. That's all I know about the machine's provenance. I wish I knew more!

Pictures to explain what the whole mess was about. Pardon all the dents in the horn--I wish I had upgraded to a flower horn sometimes.

The box looks enough like the one in that catalog to make me think that it's not H&S like I had presumed, but genuine Victor stuff.

Victor didn't manufacture these cases, but bought them from others. There were several aftermarket manufacturers offering these cases.

I bought a Victor MS last summer still in the same carrying case as pictured with the horn in its carrying case as well. I was the first I have ever seen as well. John

How did you find it, and what was the horn carrier made of?
