It's the length of the tone chamber that determines bass cutoff--providing the horn has an exponential taper. Based on what I've heard from other collectors, the 157's horn is a good foot to 18 inches shorter than the one fitted in the 163, which was six feet long, the same length as the one installed in the Orthophonic Credenza.
