Sorry Bob, I should have read more carefully or hand my glasses on.... Rene's type B has the later brake #13,719.

It also appears that all of the ERJ B's had the bolt action brake.
A carry over from the Berliner days?

And it appears that all of the VTM B's used the straight "canon" bullet brake.

Interesting topic.
Here are two more examples of B's.
Johnson Fleur-de-lis B, celluloid tag No. 35523
and a Vic Dolphin B No. 20588

Hi AudioAntique,

Does your celluloid tagged "B" with the Consolidated Talking Machine five screw spring case have a "B" stamped over the "J" like mine?
This is getting more and more interesting!
Was Johnson using up the remaining Berliner/Consolidated motors on his earliest ERJ "Fluer-de-lis" B's ???

Bob,

It does not appear so.

Just want to add this late 1900 ERJ (Consolidated Talking Machine) catalog page (courtesy of Allen K) showing the Type B. The cut drawing appears to still be a improved Gramophone without embellishments or carved base trim. You can also see what appears to be a celluloid plate (or decal) on the travel arm. The reference to the Exhibition sound box is still a Clark-Johnson type. So, what was the improvement..?.
