Curiously, theses model numbers were meant to be pronounced 'Three-three', 'Four-four' etc. rather than 'Thirty-three', 'Forty-four' and so on. I don't know how people were expected to know this, or why it mattered! Nor do I know whether the 1950s 66 was supposed to be pronounced similarly. Interesting, though, that Decca felt the original 66, though not a very long-lived model, had left behind a reputation that justified reviving the name, however pronounced.

Interesting. It explains the tiny "Six" "Six" that is printed within the bottom loop of each of the 6's on the nameplate. At first, I tried to polish those off, thinking they were just smudges of dirt.
