I am sure you will do this O justice. Thanks for not dissecting it for the parts.

Krylon School Bus Yellow for the main color:

Krylon/ Duplicolor Cherry Red for the highlights:

I used these ages ago on an O horn for a friend of mine and they looked authentic and quite striking. Test spray first, of course. You never know if they've changed the formula.

I love a good project so I needed this machine. I believe the tone arm is correct. I checked with a friend and he sent photos of his machine and his looks identical. I'll need to fabricate the yoke and it should work fine.

Here's an update on my Victor O project. The ID tag was totally lacking in background paint so I painted the tag and then remove paint from the higher surfaces. The case was stripped, grain and nail holes filled, stained, and finished. In an attempt to keep provenance I placed the Leutys fire information as well as my business cards inside. On one of my cards I described what I've done to the machine. I'd like to think I've given it some good history with more good history to come.

Nice Job Jerry.

Were you able to sort out the original blue paint on the horn? Was this horn original to this machine or a replacement, or ?

Terrific job on the case! I really like the way it came out. May I ask what stain you used?
Thank you.

I literally attacked the horrible paint job and just notices traces of blue so really have no idea. If the horn was painted blue before the yellow and brown, most of it was removed first.. I suspect the horn is original to the machine. The purchase of an incomplete Victor O can be a bit daunting and there is an order of acquisition. The back bracket determines the tone arm and the elbow. Once you get an elbow that fits the back bracket the next step if to buy a horn that fits the elbow. To make these purchases out of order can create nothing but problems. The Victor O may have sold in limited number but total sales spanned quite a few years and the model went through several changes.

I used Constantine's Red Mahogany stain. It's advertised to be a non grain raising stain. I've used it for many years with excellent results.

Does everyone know that the Victor O is not really a mahogany cabinet? If you carefully read Victor catalogs it's says the Victor O has a "mahogany finish."

That cleaned-up nicely, and the data plate looks great.

Painted the horn today. The color is close to my Victor O. I'm planning to buy or borrow an air brush and highlighting the edges of the horn.
