So, out of curiousity----Do you have the largest Kimball collection in the neighborhood?

Hi all,
Thanks for your suggestions on the reproducers. Jerry I think your correct in that the diaphragm was replaced. The seller had mentioned something about wanting to/ having replaced the aluminum diaphragm with a mica diaphragm, but unfortunately I didn't hear him clearly.I did open the reproducer and while the gaskets appear new one of them is broken so it will need to get replaced sometime soon. I was able to (mostly) remedy the buzzing problem by applying some bees wax to the needle bar- diaphragm junction (there was none previously again pointing to a replaced diaphragm).
In response to having the largest Kimball collection, unless you know somebody in central PA with two Kimballs I would go with yes. Haha. In all honestly, I knew nothing of the brand before I saw this machine for sale. I would like to see other examples of their machines because they seem both well build and designed.
David I got a video of 'er playing for you. Unfortunately I don't have a proper external microphone available so the audio was recorded through my phone's microphone. She does sound really good, and hopefully that will come across in to some extant in the video. Also forgive my use of vertical video. Here is the link:

Many thanks for posting a photo of the horn. It seems very well designed. I also think that it sounds pretty good, as it is now, but you'd likely get more of a bass response, and a stronger mid-rage, if an aluminum diaphragm was installed in place of the mica--which I agree, was most likely a replacement.

I do think I want to return it to it’s original state and put an aluminum diaphragm back in sometime soon. Do you, or anyone else, have a site you would recommend where I can source one?

Sounds lovely!! I certainly would’ve picked it up if it were closer to me.
Thanks a lot for the video! Maybe Wyatt Markus can help with the diaphragm?
