Great! As I said, I had a couple of Nocturnes, and I really like Sonoras. The serial numbers don’t usually include the model.

Well...
I finally got the Sonora fixed and it's working great. The clunking that I mentioned in my original post turned out to be 2 badly ground down gears.
It was fixed by the Dyslexic Genius Hurt aka Mr. Brett Hurt.
As some of you may know, when Mr. Hurt does repairs he makes videos.
Below are the videos of him fixing my Sonora.

If you're in need of a repair of your old phonograph give him a call. He and his wife Cheryl are super nice people and Mr. Hurt knows what he's doing!

It's really exciting to see more people come into the hobby. I own a Sonora and they are wonderful machines. I would encourage you to research removing the paint and restoring the finish. The effort might not be so daunting after the paint is removed. There are several forum members with expert skills at restoring finishes.
"You can't take the phonographs nor the money with you, but the contentment the phonographs bring may well make your life better, and happier lives make the world a better place."

I know that I probably should and maybe one day I will, but right now I'm just happy that it finally works. It's a great machine...I cannot wait for the rest of my family to swiing thru and get to see history work.
Thanks!
