I think Soundgen is right in his assessment, but to me, the internal horn, needle tray and felt look more blue than green?

Nevertheless, it seems strange to me that a machine modified to resemble a rarer one should have ended up being donated to a charity shop.
That charity shop wasn't in Tring was it?

"Condition issues include a badly cracked lid with a badly scratched finish which looks beyond saving".
IF this is an authentic teak portable, the lid is not beyond saving and would be worth restoring, IMO.

It is worth checking under the turntable for a metal plate featuring a model number of the sort more usually found on an HMV 101s because ‘Tropical’ 102s usually have that feature. This looks to me as a mixture of case and parts from different machines.

If then it's a post-peeling project, and the guy decided to finish the case this way... It's inspiring for those of us who have deteriorated rexine covers in our machines. Ok, it's false! But it gives an interesting new look to the machine. Only needed to replace the corner protectors and external fittings, then choose a good skin cover for the handle...
