Re: Pathé Model VII Restoration: Needle Bar
So how does one tell the difference between one made in France and one that was US-made? I have several Concert reproducers but only one that has the narrower (9/16") needle bar width and the overall diameter of the reproducer is smaller at about 2-¾". The others have ⅞" needle bar widths and the overall diameter is larger at about 3" overall. My model 100 was early and had the older tone arm with separate reproducers for vertical and lateral as opposed to the universal arm I see on most of them and the Concert reproducer that came with it was the larger version (but I can't be sure it was original).

The one shown on the first photo of the original posting in this thread is US-made, but for some reason is fitted with a French concert soundbox paper. The concert soundbox, French-made, is the one on the second photo.randymullx wrote:So how does one tell the difference between one made in France and one that was US-made? Re: Pathé Model VII Restoration: Needle Bar
Please don't stop this thread because I'm itching to know more! HOWEVER, a forum member contacted me via PM to provide me what I needed, so my problem is solved.... and many thanks as always to all who chimed in. But I've been looking all over the internet for more information on the history of Pathé's U.S. manufacturing, but to no avail.
But Carlos, your info has provided me an answer to the first critical question — the origins of the two different reproducers that (if for no other reason than to throw US off our game!) bear the same name. The soundbox paper, however, appears ubiquitous — every picture I've found of either model has the same label.
FYI Curt, the picture you posted was the reproducer for sale on eBay. I was the first bidder; outbid by 50 cents a couple of days later and then by $5 — I've since withdrawn my bid.

Re: Pathé Model VII Restoration: Needle Bar
I have a spare Pathé reproducer that needs TLC. You are welcome to it if it will help.
The spacing is ⅞ in between the screws.

Blain
