George the same was true for the first Blue Amberol box #15. The earliest had no date and the next one had the 1912 date.

Rich, how do we know when the undated box appeared? Since the earlier dated BA box is "June 1912" and the BA didn't appear until October 1912, I find it unlikely that the undated box would be earlier. I'm more inclined to believe that it came after the 1913 version, leading up to the orange and blue style.

When the new blue amberol cylinder and new box appeared it was the same construction as the 4 minute wax cylinder box but was a dark blue and had no date. The next variation was the addition of the 1912 date. These first two boxes were used for the flat top cylinders. That was followed by the1913 variation box when the beveled edge cylinder was introduced and continued for the rest of production.

Wow - - I've collected for over 53 years and never seen (or noticed) a Blue Amberol box constructed like that of a wax Amberol. I love learning new stuff - thanks.
Would you be able to take a picture or two of such an animal for me?

George here’s pictures of the first blue amberol box with no date. These are on my 1500 & 1600 cylinders.

Thanks very much, Rich! Could I impose on you to take a shot looking down on the bottom portion with the lid off - - to show the earlier type Amberol box with the later Blue Amberol label?

I don't see how this "first" Blue Amberol box is the same construction as the wax Amberol box. It looks like a typical BA box - - please correct me if I'm wrong.
Which brings back to my question:

The early box is copied from the wax amberol box in that in is manufactured in the same style and process only slightly narrower because of the removal of the liner. Also it did not have the price on it.
