The motor board actually isn't going to be quite right (but it is the same motor). The VTLA motor board is more like the motor board of the Vic 6 and sat on top of, rather in and flush with the inside top of the cabinet. I actually had to have a motorboard custom made for my VTLA (although I have seen mahagony VTLA motorboards turn up on ebay once in a while).

I think what the others have said about saving that phonograph is true. It could probably be done and the end result would probably be worth it. But if you aren't skilled to do such extensive refinishing/woodwork, they can be found for reasonable prices. Here is one for $400 that looks decent with a fairly low serial number. There was one on Craigslist a couple months ago for $350. I will say, however, that it's a good feeling when you can take something like the one in question and bring it back to life. It's one of my favorite aspects of the hobby.

Zeppy, you're right. I have an early VTLA, so it should have been obvious to me.
