Hi Marc,
I have also encountered Cygnet horns that fit together very tightly but as long as the catch closes around the pin, it should be fine. The spring seem to be alright. Turning the knurled nut toward the horn will raise up the spring and thus the whole horn. The idea is to adjust the spring up or down so that the horn doesn't rest too heavily on the reproducer and the horn moves up and down with the reproducer.
