Haha! I think the rolling of the lawn was as important as mowing it. I remember as a child all those big Victorian houses where we lived always had a big cast iron roller rusting away behind some shed or outbuilding. I couldn’t shift one! Probably there since the house was built but not used in many decades.

Well I found that quite fascinating. What you learn from these threads. I started off looking at an impressive collection of phonographs and motor cars in Kansas and ended up seeing a steam powered lawn mower working.
