That is a great looking and rare phonograph. My only question is on the earlier ones was the reproducer hold downs two screw or single screw.. May be this was an upgrade. ?? Tom

The earliest Homes can be found with a variety of reproducer clips. No.138, shown in Discovering Antique Phonographs, has Class M-type clips, but by late 1897/early 1898 one-screw clips made a brief appearance. Like several other characteristics of early Homes, different patterns of reproducer clips may have popped up inconsistently during production.

That said, it's quite possible that the carriage in No.52 was replaced at some point with a later example.

Congratulations, you've been telling me for years about this and waiting for the collection to come up for sale. It is to your credit as a highly reputable dealer that the owner entrusted you with such rare and desirable machines.

I would put this above a music box collector's quest for a Grand Format Overture, or an Astronomical Regulator clock for a clock collector. A real prize, for sure.
