Glad to help. I read the article and then followed a link at the end of the wiki page to another article full of interesting facts about these discs. I don't like them very much, as I find the recordings too loud (I only have a couple of them). Besides that, they've been abused with steel needles, and are a bit worn... I suppose that getting an E++ v-disc and playing it on a modern sound system would be great! Some of these discs have unique performances that are not published elsewhere... After reading all this, I look at them with different eyes!

There is a lot of good music on them with bands and artists playing that might not otherwise have been able to record together. This was during the musicians strike in the early 40's, and the musicians union allowed their members to play and record for the V-Disc program only. They were not bound to record for just "their label" so lots of artists played together that would not otherwise have been able to. And they played free of charge for the troops. The agreement stipulated that all records and masters had to be destroyed when the program ended. Fortunately, many V-Discs survived.

Naucktions usually carry a good lot of them.
There are also the complete collection at LOC, plus the collection of one of the promoters, but this we don't know where it is now...

There is a guy that goes by V-Disc Daddy that used to have a very good web page with lots of V-disc info, but I am unable to find it now. He uploaded many V-Disc recordings and other info from his collection on youtube, and all of those are still available. The American Music Research Center at University of Colorado in Boulder also has a large collection in their Glenn Miller Archives. Mr. Dennis Sprague has created some very informative documents on the V-disc program which are available on the AMRC website.
