Its obvious. He decided to saw the legs off so the cabinet would be low enough to lift the lid, and be used as a Make-shift emergency Toilet !!

Woo-hoo !
My Goodness, it is now up to a little over a hundred bucks with just a few hours on the clock. Wonder how high this Legless, sad commentary of an Art Model will go ?? Let's hope the winning bidder, is not some newbie who thinks this is complete cabinet !! If he finds out later, and complains, The seller, who has been been told about the true status of his amputee, will not have a "Leg to Stand On" !!

It's still not too bad at around $100- the motor and parts are worth at least that, and the cabinet is not beyond salvage- some sort of base could be built. If you had a pattern those turnings could be reproduced.

That might be. But I am wondering which Sonora Phonographs other then the Art Models were designed for that Giant Gold Motor. If it was only found in these Art Models, you might have a problem trying to find a customer for that motor, and of the very few owners of Sonora Art Models, how many of those very few, would ever be looking for a new motor ? Maybe if you want to keep a spare motor and Wooden Tone arm and top of the line Sonora Reproducer on hand as back up inventory for your Super Rare, Seldom Seen, Highly ornate, Sonora Jacobean Art Model, This would be your chance Victrolaman. You should be bidding on this baby.

This has the electric motor. I've never seen an
electric Sonora motor. Does anyone know what it looks
like or have a picture??

Are you sure this has an electric motor. I am looking at the description of this Art Model from the original Catalog and it does not say that there is an electric motor option available, only the Extra heavy triple spring, gold-plated motor(that's what it says). That is not to say that later on in the Mfg. process, they may have added an Electric motor option for their Art Model Phonographs. There was an electric light that was standard equipment on most art models, but originally, no electric motor option.

This is the Sonora I find interesting:
http://tinyurl.com/24mcxhz . It might be the love-child of an Edisonic Beethoven & a Brunswick radio ! Too bad it doesn't have a slide-out desktop, so you could sit & fill out tax returns while playing records (and going deaf, if you don't use the 'tone modulator') .
I'd make an offer, except that it's too big for my car AND house, and a bit too far away.
Oy vey:
"Q: Hello, If I buy your 2 phonographs, Could you help me, please? There is my friend very near from you. Moonachie 07074 NJ. could you deliver 2 phonograph to there, please? Yes, I will pay before your delivery by Paypal. I will ask to my friend to send me when he got them from you, please. Please, Help me. " The seller saw through that scam attempt, happily!
