If you can’t tell I’m retired from the education field
They are mostly the same cabinet but with different styling gee gaws. Sorta like the old GM car bodies of the 1960-70’s.

Thanks. Getting a new loft bed that's got something like 60" under it, so I ought to be able to fit it under that. Initially I had thought about putting it in my basement, but after reading of the weight I realized that wouldn't work. Hopefully I'll be getting it next week.

I ought to have checked those. I did notice the "automatic stop" while looking at it. This one also lacks the alleged Motor Meter and gold trimmings. Did any of the Sonora 2 spring motors feature a Motor Meter?

Another question: I've seen wooden Sonora tonearms with little carvings on top. Is this missing them, or did some simply never have them at all?

I think the motor meter was offered on the big Sonora motors. I only have dealt with the double spring motors. Being actually Pallaird motors they are of very good quality. I have one in my oak Nocturne Sonora upright and one in my EMG.
That console may have a drawer in the turntable compartment. Maybe the vertical reproducer is there?
Don’t have much experience with the wood Sonora tone arms. They maybe actually wood clad brass? Let us know if you get it.
I think this summer we’re going to see many interesting machines appear

Wood tonearms were an extra-cost option on the middle-range machines, and standard on the top line. Some dealers like to retrofit them onto machines to dress them up (and make more $).
They’re a lot of fun visually, but the tonearm bases are nowhere near airtight, so the sound suffers.
But the main reason for owning a Sonora these days isn’t for listening.

Yes, there is a drawer. It's only filled with needles. Lots of paper packets, I'm hoping some are still good. Doesn't the tonearm turn, or is it really different reproducers?
I believe the wood tonearms are solid wood.
