My main concern is whatever lies beneath that bed plate. With that much rust or corrosion or whatever it is, I can't imagine that the motor under it was spared.
Big deal, right?
Every lower end Edison uses the same motor. Simply buy another.
It uses the earlier motor variety which is more difficult to find parts for, per one of the other replies.

Not seeing that reply, but I also agree with others in the thread. It's just really flaky paint, and could be repainted or replaced.

I agree as well. I wasn't aware that the bed plate was not so hardy over time.

The A/B/C 60 and the A/B 80 used an entirely different motor than the A 150. Still, the point is moot since the motor in the subject A 150 is likely okay.

This is an early "A" series motor, which is different from the common "B" motor.
PS: George, I was thinking of mentioning the 60/80 motors, but you beat me to it...

Ah yes, the tabletops. I tend to think of the 150 & 100 lines when I think of low end- those 60s and 80s are fairly desirable by now, and it's easy to forget just how cheap they were.

The A-100 has legs that are dowel-jointed to the box of the cabinet. It is these dowel joints that are weak. Notice that on the A-150, the legs are the corners of the box, eliminating the weak dowel joints.
Also, the bedplate is coated with tinted shellac, not paint. The shellac loses its oils over the years and becomes less elastic, causing the finish to separate from the iron bedplate.
