I've done the 2-sheets-of-glass-in-the-barely-hot-oven thing, too, with some success. Just don't try that on laminated records, or you will likely produce lam cracks.

Thanks again for all the ideas. I'll let you all know how it went. It's a fairly sturdy old Columbia disc, so I'm guessing it should come out all right.

I believe that Columbia, at some point in their history, made laminated records, so Adam's caution should be considered.

I believe that at least after the black and silver period all Columbia discs are laminated- it can often be seen as a thin beige line on the edge of the disc.

If lam cracks are a problem on the Columbias, then the heat must be brought up and down very slowly.

This label is dark green with gold lettering, with the large "magic notes" in the top center. On the notes it says "Grand Prize Paris 1900. Saint Louis 1904, Milan 1906. The song titles have a very pre WWI sound to them. Would this be a laminated record?

No, Columbias weren't laminated until the early '20s (their "New Process" records). Yours should be fine.
