Exact same thing happened to me with these two individuals yesterday with regard to an Edison Fireside:

- Contacted by Steven055 and provded with Jacob's email address. He said, "The last time I purchased parts from Mr Jacob
He mentioned he had a Edison Fireside for sale. Hit him up [email protected] he might still have what you looking for.
Cheers Mate and stay safe"
- I contacted Jacob and got the following response, "Where are you located?"
- I told him Europe but said I'd be coming to the Midwest show and the response was, "Nice! I’m in PA What’s your budget for this ?"
- I said it depends on the configuration of the machine, horn equipment (or not) and so on. I asked him to set a price. Response was, "$800 shipped"
- Again I asked about configuration and for some good quality pics. Response was one grainy pic with no text, (pic below).
- At this point I just said it's not what I was looking for, wanted to end the discussion. The response was, "What type are you looking for?"
- I explained in quite some detail it needs to be exceptionally nice, unusually good condition. Never heard back.

Here is a P.M. I received:
The last time I purchased parts from Mr Jacob
He mentioned he had a ERJ Longthroat Exhibition Reproducer for sale. Hit him up [email protected] he might still have what you looking for.
Cheers Mate and stay safe
Who is steven055, who is Mr Jacob, never heard of them? Sounds like a total scam!

He's still looking for pictures online.

I'm really glad this thread popped to the top. I recently advertised hoping to find a Victor IV ID tag and received a PM from Steven055 saying that Jacob had such a tag. I asked for a photo in an effort to avoid the confusion between a Victor IV and Victrola IV. There was no communication since asking for a photo. Thank you George and other TMF members.

Who the heck is Mr Jacob was my first thought. "Cheers Mates"........

Ron Brink
The PM I received from member “steven055” was worded EXACTLY the same except for the item.

As for “Jacob Wright,” apparently at least a couple of us have his email address, for whatever good that does…

Sounds eerily familiar. Remember this thread from last October? Same concept, different user names and email addresses. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=50897

I got a PM from a "Steven Cross" in answer to a wanted ad I placed on a Model T Ford forum. Wording was all very similar to the scam attempts here. What a bunch of turds! :x

Yes, these people tried to sell me a blue flower horn I was looking for. I have seen this scam before so I didn’t bite. Usually the scammer is a new forum member, so no history or references. He has only been a member since April 2022.

I got an email from him in reply to items I wanted to buy. I saw he was a new member and just deleted his email.
Sounded way to fishy to even give it any consideration.
