Here is a link to the auction house - stating the machine was an unsold lot:

With a 40,000 Euro estimate, I'm not surprised no one bid.

This is a work of fine art and belongs in a museum. If you had carpentry skills your appreciation of its beauty would help justify the high cost to buy it. Thanks for posting the pictures.
Personally I think a collection ought to be offered for it to put it in the Johnson Victrola Museum.

It is a beautiful machine for sure, and I know he found it empty and had to fill it with parts but the parts that he has are not original. And I only know as I've seen an original machine. The owner may even let me take some photos for posterity someday. Though with gas prices these days the distance to everyone's place has virtually doubled

I assume the motorboard and some related parts are not original to the machine, but which ones, specifically, are replacements? Regardless of that, it is still a stunning machine.

As a previous poster rightfully assumed earlier, this should have a bullet brake. But more importantly, the motor board is not inset into the machine but rests on top. From what I remember it looks like the top board of a Vic III or something, bullet brake, round dial speed control. I believe that's why the motor looks so crowded in the newly found machine as that board is inset. Like I said, maybe someday he'll let me take a picture or two
