I just heard from Don, the surgery went well and they hope to have her up walking today. Besides her situation, I worry about the stress on Don.

They were both excited about attending the show, but Don won’t even consider going without her. They’re both over 80 and have been together since elementary school.

Prayers for Bobbie. She and Don are two of the nicest folks in the hobby- So glad the surgery went well. Hopefully they have some family, community or church support to help them with the day to day stuff for several weeks. I echo Raphael's thoughts about the toll Don's labor of love can take on him. If anyone lives nearby, I'd encourage you to make a grocery run or pharmacy run for them whenever you can, or drop off a meal or two.

Really sad news and we pray for a speedy recovery!

Don told me tonight that she’s doing well, but will have to go to a rehab center prior to returning home. From what he explained to me, repairing a broken hip is more complicated and invasive than hip replacement. I don’t understand that but in any event, she should be fine.
