This literally made me laugh out loud.
But it's a great idea for a screen play I think.

DEATH BY TINFOIL PHONOGRAPH

A psychotic unemployed machinist manufacturers tinfoil phonographs in his mother's basement late at night.
His kidnapped victims are forced to listen to the appalling reproduction of Mary had a little lamb, played over and over again until their ears bleed, then they are finally bludgeoned to death with the tinfoil phonograh

the detectives found the body to have been killed by blows given with a blunt heavy instrument. They couldn't establish clearly the cause of bleeding ears, so they thought it a consequence of the blows. Only the poor victim and the killer knew the truth...

Not 100% authentic (plastic base & off the shelf pulley for flywheel for example), but here is a similar style I had made by a local machine shop 25 years ago. The prototype cost way more than I was initially quoted so wound up dropping the project.
