The second record is kind of a radio theatre sketch with some singing. Bengali drama can be read in the label. It's pretty faded, I fear...
Hi Inigo ! This screen shot offers you some clue to the Bengali drama 78 RPM record of probably circa 1930s
Cheers

Ha ha! Very curious...!
This is elder Lata I suppose... it's a more mature voice, yet it preserves that clean intonation... Marvelous!

I used Google lens to search for the text, and the side that is readable says: মন্মথ রায় প্রণীত “ খনা ”- ১১শ খণ্ড বরাহের গৃহ which Google transcribed as Manmatha rāẏa praṇīta “khanā”- 11śa khaṇḍa barāhēra gr̥ha, translated as “Khana” by Manmath Roy – 11th volume - Barah's house.
The unreadable side seems to be chapter 12, still Barah's house scene.
Very curious!

I appreciate your curiosity. I think your record belongs to some serialised Bengali drama. It’s a record of historic importance and should not be sold for less than $ 100.

I love Lata Mangeshkar. The very first music I ever heard was Lata Mangeshkar and Mohamed Rafi 78rpm records on my grandfathers Tyrela Gramophone.
I do believe she is the most recorded artist ever.
She died of Covid in Feb this year at the grand old age of 92. She was still recording into her late 80's.

Very nice to know your interest in Muhammad Rafi and Lata. I will suggest that you listen to Noor Jahan as well. She is the greatest of all. Even Lata acknowledged that Noor remained her role model.

This Indian cover advocated scrapping old gramophones, but what goes around comes around.
Who would have predicted that decades later, India would flood the market with fake horn gramophones?
