Thanks for posting that link, since it goes farther back than the inflation calculator I normally use.

I was a little puzzled by that, and double-checked the site. I noticed, instead of $8.00, you had entered $80.00:

$8.00 (1905 USD) would be $270.92, which would be more in line with what I'd expect for the times--still expensive though.
