I am saddened to learn of Ian's passing. I corresponded with him on a number of occasions over 20 years. He was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I purchased a very nice gramophone from him when he was selling off his collection.

I am really feeling shocked to know that Mr Calderbank has passed away. He was a very kind and helpful person. He always responded to his emails in a day. Actually, it was the absence of his response to my several emails in late 2022 which made me feel concerned about him and therefore I asked colleagues on this forum. Unfortunately my fears turned out to be genuine. May he rest in peace.

I would like to know if there were any obituaries or memorial references held in his honour.

His website may not last after him and I will archive its data to honour his memory.

That's a good idea but for the avoidance of doubt if you're going to make a copy of any content from the website it would be advisable to contact the administrator(s) of his estate first to seek and obtain copyright permissions. I'm hopeful that you shouldn't have a problem getting it but to be safe that's what I would do.

Ideally, depending on who is in charge and their longterm plans, it would be great if another knowledgeable enthusiast could get permission to take over it to keep it running and "live" in Ian's honour but with Ian's content in a retrievable archive within it so future researchers are clear which parts are Ian's contributions or otherwise.
