Beautiful phonographs, and the Victor export decal isn't one I've ever seen before. Everything is in such nice condition.

We wouldn't find that much for sale in the UK in 5 years !!!!

Thank you for the compliments. It was a fun day as a collector. Each machine or cabinet had a very tiny tag inside the lid or drawer of when he bought them. Mostly in the 1980's. The cylinder cabinet was completely loaded with blue amberols, but nothing special.

To paraphrase a previous response by Lee, I agree - the thrill of the hunt/chase is a big part of it! You made some great memories and obtained some great items. That's what it is all about. Thanks for sharing!

Mmm I've seen some pretty spectacular stuff for sale in the five years I've been in Europe. The hand wind Berliner toy with discs and box was one such machine.

The UK can turn up some genuine rarities, and none more so than this hand operated Stollwerck.
In red, it is even rarer than the spring powered green version.
It was entrusted to a collector friend to sell on the owner's behalf, and is certainly the rarest machine I have ever had the opportunity to examine.
It and some records were still in the cardboard box from Whiteley's Department Store, where it was purchased in about 1905.
At auction in 2017 it made a hammer price of GBP£4400.

The last day of the sale was Monday. With the 30-50% discount on Monday, some of the items were a little more affordable. The Zon-O-Phone Grand Opera and the Radiola 60 with speaker were still there.
