I can think of 4: You want to sell for at least that 'value'. You want to buy for less. You HAVE bought and hope it was a good deal. You want to buy insurance. Are there other reasons, besides bragging that you got a $1000 thing for a dime?
Maybe there should be a rule that you need to be on the list for a year before trying to pick brains for free appraisals.
I appreciate every ones help but the reason for asking value is to sell, I'm sure that when anyone obtains something that they do not know anything about will go to a forum or such to ask about that item. Say you obtained a George Washington Signature on a letterhead of some sort and knew nothing about it, I'm sure you would not want to have to be a member of a forum for a year just to Inquire about where to start with it, I thought that was what the forum was for,If not what good is it to just show off what everyone has with no discussions on value, where to get parts or such things, I only came to this forum because it seemed like the appropriate place to ask about the machine.
