D**n Facebook. I'm not on it and don't want to join it. Why are people selling gramophones on Facebook? Ok UK auctioneers are as much use as a chocolate teapot and greedy with it and then there's Fleabay.......okay, I get it now

Because they don't want the hassle of packing and sending, maybe, or they have the same dislike of auction sites as you have of Facebook? Personally, I look at the "marketplace" section every day because so far I have bought three portable machines at very reasonable prices.

So it's only for local pick up? That's handy for me then as I doubt my area will throw much good stuff up. It certainly hasn't done over the past 30 years anyway.

Now, where's that teak 101 in Upminster?
Facebook Marketplace.

Barry
That doesn’t look teak. It looks very dark red on the lid, covered in rexine, but the base seems to have the rexine removed and it’s been stained?

I agree the colour does look dodgy, but look at the close-up of the record pocket in the lid. Typical "colonial" construction?

Can someone please share the images of this other 101? Thanks!

That part does look right. Maya be it’s a mish mash of parts or the record pocket was replaced just by chance with a teak piece.

Well yes absolutely. Personally I prefer dark chocolate myself but I'm getting off track a bit. Maybe I should have said auctioneers are as much use as petrol in a Tesla. Now let's see you get out of that one?
