So to conclude the story about the Victrola IV in the nicest possible manner:
It was on picnic duty today after mass as I decided to drive up to North Carolina and take my girlfriend Kelly on a date. We both have greatly enjoyed our day together.
She said that when she was a little kid she'd always wanted to go out and have a real old-school picnic. I didn't know this was a little bucket list item for her but that was a pleasant surprise to me when she said it was.
Food was good, weather was perfection, and I think the Victrola looked the part. Kelly liked our copy of "Stranger Blues" by Lizzie Miles on Vocalion, and we enjoyed a Mexican swing record on Peerless which we got at the last Mooresville swap.
