Thinking again. I've reacted to quite a few posters on Youtube. Never asking for records, but I did commment on some of the amazing restoration work some 'amateurs' are able to do. In some cases resulting in quite a few pm's from both sides, where we disclosed our real name and location. So there is still mutual respect even on Youtube.
Peter.

Yes, I can say the same. I have had some very good discussions regarding recordings or artists arising from mine or others you tube videos. I have also been approached to see if I can provide MP3s of tracks which I have done on occasion. It all depends on how the question is asked.

Jhomlesesq,
The request sent to you is a little strange for reasons already noted, especially since it implies you'd need to meet, exhange records for a restaurant lunch or dinner with a person that you have not met. It could be totally innocent but there are a lot of predators out there. Personally I would not respond.
That being said, I've certainly had some very good conversations on this forum via PM, nice exchanges via youTube and Facebook groups such as "Jazz Age". If you get to know someone, learn you have a lot of common interests, you can pretty safely sort out the kooks from ohers with legitimate interests in the hobby imho...

Might sneak up from behind and bludgeon you to death with a thick stack of Mario Lanza, '
Silver Threads Among The Gold', and '
White Christmas' 78's! What an ignominious way to go!

Hmmm, thanks a lot everyone. He doesnt have my email address since the message was only through my Youtube channel.
Everyone else that messages me has nice things to say about my channel - but in any case I've directed him to eBay and told him to "buy his own"

Okay, so maybe harm intended, but no harm done. I'm active on a few music forums and so far have had only positive experiences. Up to the point that fellow members sent things for free.
I've made quite a few nice contacts on Youtube too, where we communicated both via general comments and pm. Just this morning I had anintensive conversation with a poster from Zürich, Switzerland, who I could give some information I had acquired that he didn't know of. He posts great music and I was able to provide him with lesser known background information. We do have each other's private e-mail addresses, but prefer to do it via the 'open' source to share with to the community. By the way, my Youtube moniker is the same as this one. My name is Peter and I love syncopated piano music, hence the nickname Syncopeter.
