The problem, Garret, is that a cabinetry work like that, to be done correctly including the japanning (an expensive technique), would cost much more than the $400 that the machine is being sold for.

Someone in 1932 decided to try sliding it across the room. Those spindle legs do not handle that activity well :-(. So instead of getting rid of phonograph, they just cut it off at the stump and there you are.
