Re: Today's Arrival
Well, since we are showing our early Type R's, I'll show mine. I bought this a few years ago but a previous owner put a few upgrades on it. The first was a couple of hinges that helped to raise the motor board. Second, was a well made elbow I guess to replace the rotten leather original, however the brass replacement weighed about 12oz. Finally a new coat of gold paint was applied to all of the metal except for the platter and horn. I cleaned the paint from the machine but there was only a flash of copper showing. I found an old leather elbow to replace the brass one, removed the hinges and just cleaned it up. The Concert reproducer was on it and have no reason to think it came with another. The motor is somewhat noisy but it plays fine. The serial no. is 359. The first picture is how I got.-Mike

...And yet ANOTHER contender for the earliest-known Royal!
Serves me right for not posting a survey.

Re: Today's Arrival
How low can we go?
Ok I'll throw mine on the pile also. #343. Like a lot of other collectors I like these little R's also. From the very early ones to the very late ones and the odd looking rigid arm ones in between.
Very interesting article George, thanks.
