There was a place in the UK called "Expert Pick-Ups" but that was so long ago and when I did a search, nothing comes up, that was way back in 1983.
You would send them just the needle bar and they would drill in out and install a new stylus that came in a brass holder.

Wyatt Marcus ???
Probably already tried that.?

Funny you should mention Wyatt, but not for the stylus!

He saw my video posted elsewhere and pointed out that the swivel block was seized. I made a right angle screwdriver out of a paint can opener, disassembled it, cleaned it up and oiled it so it pivoted freely. All those records I was tempted to toss now work very nicely. The power of these groups always amazes me.

Check the pivot point on the reproducer--where the weight attaches to the main body-- That connection must move freely to allow lateral movement of the weight/stylus-

You were correct. 100% the problem. I got so focused on the stylus I couldn't see the forest for the trees. Thanks much.

Most of the tracking issues I have experienced are related to this pivot not swinging back and forth freely. Also check that the limit pin on the other side is centered in the loop when playing a record.
Thank you. You were 100% spot on and cleaning up the swivel totally solved the problem. Much appreciated!

Expert Pickup has changed its name to Expert Stylus. It's still around; I had it install custom styli on a couple of cantilver assemblies late last year or so.

By the way, the Edison styli were soldered into the the bar used in a diamond disc reproducer.. Many years ago, I replaced one that had been snapped off by desoldering the old one and soldered the new one in.

Because I thought we all understood that we were taking about stylus's.
Glad you got things going again ! :)
