Cutting Mica

Fascinating how they managed to cut these so perfectly without a single delamination. I have acquired some old unused stock of fine Ruby Mica Diaphragms each in envelopes for various sizes 50mm, 52mm, and 54mm. Unfortunitely the envelopes for the 43mm were all empty! Exhibition size, of course. So yesterday I tried to cut 3 of them down to exhibition size. What a mess, sharp scissors were the best but I still got unsightly delamination around the edge. I thought grinding on the dremel was the worst. That's 3 lost and I won't attempt anymore! Unless someone knows of a better way? So if anyone needs to swop let me know. I also acquired a large amount of old 49mm but these don't look as good as the other ones.

The problem here in Britian from buying a new diaphragm from ebay in the States (and they also look good!) is they want the price again to ship it. I could probably send one to the States for a couple of bucks.

If anyone has any luck with this, I could use a few 6cm/60mm diaphragms for my Pathé Concert reproducers. Ron Sitko does not carry them.
