Sir. I really do appreciate the effort and I’m also quite embarrassed. Working on this project has caused me to learn a lot about screws and how they are manufactured. I measured everything very carefully with digital calipers, as well as my new thread gauge, which is 100 years old, and the correct measurement of the screw is as follows

3/16 diameter, 30 Threads per inch and a total thread length of .33 inches

I am very sorry if I let you astray. Of course, I’m also very willing to pay for a screw if I can get one

No need to be embarassed. You did not lead me astray. Here's how it works... for the most part, smaller threads are not identified fractionally, so saying "3/16-30", while technically correct, is not the way these threads are identified. A #10 thread is in fact 3/16" diameter. I believe you when you say the screw is .330" long, but that does not jive with any common fractional dimension, (⅓" is not a common fractional dimension). The closest reasonable fraction is 5/16", or .312". Given the tolerances used in manufacturing nuts, bolts, & screws, it is acceptable to state the length as 5/16". In other words, it's close enough. I also believe you when you say it's a 30 pitch thread. Hence, 10-30 X 5/16".

I know you never asked me to make the screw I've shown. I thought it would be a quick, fun little project. If you don't want it, I'm perfectly happy with that. If you would like to have it, I'll send it to you free of charge and I think you'll find that it will work just fine.

I emailed my contact information. I also sent by private message, but I’m not sure it went through. Thanks again. John.

Jerry,

That is some beautiful work! Finding anything in 10-30 is virtually impossible unless custom made like you have done.

What sort of machining capabilities do you have?

Mark

Thanks Mark. I've got a couple metal lathes, a milling machine, drill presses, etc. I've made gears and various phonograph parts.

Here's one I'm kinda proud of. Mine in brass, the original in nickle plate. I made every piece of it, even the screws.
