It is stamped 697. So far the case is cleaning up very nicely.

Loud enough to fill a concert hall. You can/used to be able to hear one at the Johnson Victrola Museum.KCW wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:31 pm When fully restored, how much louder would this machine actually be?

So far, the case is cleaning up very nicely. The back bracket and tone arm as well. I have been told by a couple people that this is the highest serial number of the ones known.

Re: Victor Auxetophone
I was there a few years ago and the Auxetophone was out of order. According to the guide it was a finicky machine to keep going because of the air-compressor system. They're definitely impressive to see though.
How nice that the OP got an Auxetophone from Stanton's! I had been under the impression that all extant ones were documented already. Have you contacted Paul Edie, for the Victor database?

Having looked it over at Stanton's, I must say it's already a remarkable transformation. Looking forward to more news of the progress. Nice work and congratulations!!!

It was then sorted out. Discussed here on the forum iirc.VanEpsFan1914 wrote: Mon Nov 25, 2024 8:37 pmI was there a few years ago and the Auxetophone was out of order.
